The Senior Management Team (SMT) is headed by the Program Director. The SMT is supported by the various departments led by the respective Heads of department who provide day-to-day technical oversight of the various research and program activities.

Program Director
Michael Owor is a public health and community engagement specialist with over seven years of experience designing, implementing, and managing community-based health research and public health programs in Uganda. He serves as the Program Director at the East African Institute for Health Equity Research and Innovation (EAHERI), where he provides strategic leadership for research, program implementation, partnerships, and institutional growth aimed at advancing health equity across East Africa.
Michael holds a Bachelor's degree in Demography and Reproductive Health and a Master's degree in Public Health-Health Promotion. His expertise spans community engagement, implementation research, health promotion, stakeholder engagement, behavioral change communication, health systems strengthening, research coordination, and program management.
Michael has previously served in senior community engagement leadership roles and Study coordination at the Africa Medical and Behavioral Sciences Organization (AMBSO), where he led community engagement strategies for multiple epidemiological and clinical research studies. He successfully developed and implemented innovative recruitment and retention strategies which significantly strengthened community participation and study retention. He has extensive experience building trusted partnerships with government institutions, development partners, civil society organizations, healthcare providers, academic institutions, and local communities to support ethical, inclusive, and impactful research.
As Program Director at EAHERI, Michael leads the development and implementation of multidisciplinary research and public health programs focused on maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health, HIV, non-communicable diseases, health systems, digital health, implementation science, and community-centered innovations. He is passionate about translating research into policy and practice through evidence generation, capacity strengthening, strategic partnerships, and meaningful community participation. Michael is committed to advancing equitable health outcomes by promoting innovative, community-driven, and data-informed approaches that improve population health and strengthen resilient health systems across Africa.
Leticia Mukyala Ronvincer

Leticia is Head of Research Studies at the East African Institute for Health, Equity, Research and Innovation (EAHERI), where she also serves as a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT). She provides strategic and technical leadership across EAHERI's portfolio of public health research, guiding study design, implementation, and data quality standards for projects spanning maternal and child health, HIV prevention, and intimate partner violence research in Uganda and the wider East African region.
Leticia brings nearly a decade of hands-on experience in population-based longitudinal cohort research, developed during her tenure at the Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP), one of the region's leading HIV and public health research institutions. In that role, she built deep expertise across the full data lifecycle from designing data collection tools and instruments, to leading field data collection, running systematic data quality checks, and conducting statistical analysis for large-scale cohort studies.
Beyond her research leadership at EAHERI, Leticia brings her wealth of experience and expertise that she generated from her position at RHSP where she served as a Quality Control and Compliance Officer supporting PEPFAR-funded HIV programming, including the DREAMS project and Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) programming. In this capacity, she ensured that program data and service delivery meet the rigorous quality and compliance standards required by donor and government partners.
Leticia holds a Bachelor of Statistics (BStat) and a Master of Public Health (MPH). Her combined training in statistics and public health, paired with her extensive fieldwork experience, makes her a driving force behind the technical rigor and data integrity of EAHERI's research portfolio.
Kato Philip

Philip is a Statistician with vast experience in data management for research studies and humanitarian programs. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Statistics and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics from Uganda Martyrs University.
For the past six years, Philip has been a backbone in managing data for clinical trials and epidemiological research studies. His expertise spans the full data management cycle, including designing electronic data collection systems, overseeing data quality assurance processes, maintaining secure data storage systems, and conducting routine data cleaning and validation.
He also supports statistical analysis, generates research-ready datasets, and contributes to the development of research reports that guide evidence-based decision-making. In addition, Philip regularly builds the capacity of field teams, section staff, and other study staff in data collection, data quality, and data use.
